Foliage emerges maroon-red and darkens to purplish-red. The inflorescences (sterile flowers) are also purplish-red in summer. It is the darkest purple-leaved cultivar, and the color does not fade. Has a beautiful vibrant red-purple fall color. Matures at 10 to 15 feet tall and wide.
