How to Prepare for Graduation Parties and BBQs
It’s May and that means we’re just a few weeks away from graduation parties! Send (kick) the kids out of the house with a bang by following Uncle’s tips to getting the yard ready for all those guests.
Fill in the Bare Spots
Keep the sea of green nice and full by filling in the bare spots with some Stadium Special grass seed. Stadium Special has quick germination times and can take a lot of foot traffic. Remember to use Uncle’s Seed Sandwich method if you’ve already applied Prevent this spring.
Add Grass with Sod
Need grass today? Sod is the answer. Simply roll it out on the bare dirt, cut it into the correct shape and start watering. If you need grass by next week, sod is the answer. We carry sod during the growing season, but weather can sometimes delay its arrival. Make sure to call ahead to see if it’s available before driving out.
Keep Away the Critters
Keep the uninvited guests away from the party by applying Uncle’s Critter Gitter ahead of time. Warm temps and moisture create a perfect habitat for bugs, so Uncle recommends to reapply Critter Gitter every 3-4 weeks during bug season. Spread it and water it in with at least 1/2″ of water.
Add Some Spring Color!
Nothing improves the pictures of young graduates like spring flowers in the background! Grab some hanging baskets, pre-made planters, or make your own by grabbing some of our pottery and filling it up with annuals, perennials or tropicals. Remember to use the Thriller, Filler and Spiller rule to make those planters look magnificent.
Be Ready for the Mud
If the spring rain keeps up at the current pace, your back yard could be a swampy mess at just the wrong time. Best to keep some Primera Field Conditioner on hand so that you can absorb the moisture and keep everyone look sharp for pictures! Simply spread it on the muddy areas and watch as the porous clay particles soak up the moisture and get you back to the party in no time!
