Apply with a broadcast spreader over a wet or damp lawn when no rain or mowing is expected for 48 hours. The product needs to fly out of the spreader and stick to the wet leaves of the weed and then dry so the product can be absorbed. It’s best not to mow for 1-2 days before or after applying Weed and Feed.

Weed and Feed is a post-emergent, broadleaf weed control product. That’s a fancy way of saying that it controls weeds with big leaves (think dandelions, curled dock, thistle) after they’re up and growing.
Step 2 Weed and Feed generally goes down in the spring months, usually in April or May when the broadleaf weeds show up and are actively growing.
After applying Weed and Feed, wait at least two weeks before seeding the area. If you’ve already seeded, make sure the new grass is actively growing and has been mowed two to three times before applying Weed and Feed.
The maximum rate per application is 4 pounds per 1,000 square feet, limited to 2 applications per year. The maximum seasonal rate is 8 pounds per 1,000 square feet. Minimum of 30 days between applications.
