Seed Safe
Seed Safe is a professional-strength fertilizer and crabgrass pre-emergent that is safe to use when overseeding or spot seeding.
Seed Safe allows you to grow grass in spring without having to sacrifice pre-emergent crabgrass control. Can be used the same day as seeding or as Step 2 of our Seed Safe Lawn Program. Seed Safe will stop crabgrass from sprouting for up to six weeks and will also control many broadleaf weeds that have already sprouted. After new grass has been mowed 2-3 times, Prevent!® can be applied to keep crabgrass out for the rest of the summer.
Seed Safe is only available in one size. For smaller lawns, split applications can be made four weeks apart. For larger lawns, two bags may be required.

Seed Safe controls crabgrass for 4-6 weeks depending on application rate.
Seed Safe will provide control for many broadleaf weeds, like dandelions and clover. Weeds will begin to turn white within a few days and will eventually turn brown as they die. Complete control may take 2 or 3 weeks. Weeds that aren’t completely killed are usually stunted enough that they won’t be able to compete with your grass.
When applied as directed, Seed Safe will not harm grass seedlings; however, you may notice some slight discoloration of the blades on existing grass. This is nothing to be concerned about as color will return to normal after 1 or 2 mowings.
Seed Safe should not be used as weed control in garden beds as it will harm desirable plants in the same way it will weeds.
