Grass Pad offers three sod varieties: Heat Wave Fescue, Blue Wave Bluegrass, and Zoysia. To find the best match, bring in a sample of your existing grass and our team will help identify the right type. If you’re starting fresh, we’ll guide you based on your lawn’s sunlight exposure, watering habits, and how much foot traffic the area gets. Our experts are here to help you choose the sod that fits your needs and thrives in your space.
Heat Wave Sod
Heat Wave sod is a tall fescue sod available by the roll or by the pallet.
The new sod needs to stay soaking wet for two weeks. When you water, you want it to be so wet that when you walk on the sod the water would squish between your toes.
Start by measuring the area—use a tape measure for smaller spaces or pace it off for larger ones (each step is roughly three feet). Multiply the length by the width to get the total square footage. Bring those measurements to Grass Pad, and our team will help you calculate the right number of sod rolls for your project.
Start by rolling out the sod green side up, placing seams tightly together and staggering them like bricks. Trim edges to fit using a shovel or knife, and lower the sod to match existing grass height. On slopes, use sod staples to keep it in place. Once laid, apply Golf Course Starter fertilizer and water thoroughly—keeping the sod soaking wet for two weeks is crucial for root development.
