Blue Wave bluegrass requires regular watering during the hotter months of the year. The root system runs laterally (rather than deeply), and so when the heat and drought of summer arrive, supplemental water is needed to prevent dormancy of the plant.

Blue Wave is best planted in the fall or early spring, although dormant seeding can also be an option for large, non-irrigated areas. Blue Wave will take 14-21 days to sprout, so early fall and early spring are best to give the seed enough time to grow.
Blue Wave does prefer full sun, although in the summer months it will require more water than something like Heat Wave.
