Richard grew up on a central Missouri farm where his love of growing plants began. This led to his BS in horticulture from Northwest Missouri State. Richard entered the garden center business upon graduation and joined our family in 2006 at our location on Barry Road.
Richard started his career at the Barry Road Grass Pad as the store nursery manager and was later promoted to store manager. In 2016, Richard took over the management responsibilities at our Olathe location, where he was Store Manager until early 2023.
You may recognize Richard from many of our Grass Pad Idiot-Proof Lawn YouTube videos and as a local television personality. Richard has been a long-time resident of Lee’s Summit and is now the current store manager at our lawn and garden center in Lee’s Summit.
